Sloan brings over 35 years of senior living housing and care experience to Lutheran Life Communities. She is passionate about bringing new products and systems to Lutheran Life to ensure the perpetuity of the Mission. Sloan has personally developed a new program that is being launched in 2022; an enterprise-wide culture program named Grace in Action [GIA]. GIA is modeled after a hospitality structure customized for Lutheran Life Communities, founded on Grace-Filled Living, a component of its Mission. On weekends, Sloan enjoys time on the golf course with husband Dan. Fitness and well-being are important to Sloan, evidenced by the many Zoom calls and meetings conducted from the treadmill desk in her office or during walks with her dogs, Chicagoland weather permitting!

Jim joined Lutheran Life Communities in 2008 on the board’s audit committee. He accepted the role of VP Analytics in 2020 and was appointed CFO in 2021. He earned a BS in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and is a CPA. Professionally, Jim is passionate about process improvement and data analytics to inform sound business decisions. With over 30 years’ experience in finance, accounting, sales operations and analytics, he’s the right leader to help achieve the strategic plan of LuLife. With a history of community involvement, including roles with the Boy Scouts of America, Atonement Christian Day School and Lutheran Church of Atonement, he’s equally qualified to fulfill the LuLife mission. When not at work, he can be found pursuing his personal passions for classic cars, hiking, nature and spending time with his wife, two children and numerous pets!

Abdul Shakoor joined Lutheran Life Communities in June 2021 after most recently serving as deputy general counsel for a top 10 nonprofit senior housing provider. In that capacity, Abdul was responsible for transactional matters, compliance, board and governance, litigation and supporting strategic growth opportunities. He is passionate about Lutheran Life’s core values and believes in delivering excellent quality and compassionate care to our residents. During his time away from Lutheran Life, Abdul enjoys traveling to new destinations with his family, learning about local customs and cultures.

Maia Bonner launched her career in senior living in 1995, mastering sales, marketing and operations. With 27 years of experience, Maia joined Lutheran Life Communities in the Fall of 2020. Her affinity for older adults, their stories and lifestyles, began as a child when she formed nurturing relationships with neighborhood “grandparents”. She is passionate about housing for all people regardless of socioeconomic status. When not working, Maia can be found in the garden, enjoying time with her two daughters, beachcombing, hiking, or on the floor playing with her two grandsons or her tuxedo cat, Winston Thelonious Monk. Her favorite quote comes from Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t – you’re right!”

Sallie Hazelrigg comes to Lutheran Life Communities with more than 20 years’ experience establishing philanthropy programs and managing capital campaigns. Sallie led and implemented philanthropy strategy for not-for-profit organizations including the American Heart Association and notable health systems located in the Midwest. She finds fulfillment in her work when meeting the needs of people served by the organization and joy by matching the interests and intents of donors with the organizational needs that support the mission. She says, “Here at Lutheran Life, being able to impact not only how our residents experience daily living but how our team members experience their daily work is a blessing!”

Becky brings 22 years of senior living housing and care experience to Lutheran Life Communities. Inspired by the opportunity to give the precious people entrusted to our care many special moments, Becky is committed to ensuring residents feel valued and cared for. Becky’s personal motto “To serve others in God’s love with integrity”, is displayed in her passion for ensuring residents and older adults quality moments and making Lutheran Life communities feel like a safe and loving home. Becky loves to garden and spending time with her family, including her dog and two cats. On her free time, motor racing events is Becky’s favorite sporting event to attend.

Paul joined Lutheran Life Communities with over 20 years of executive leadership, supporting the human side of business. He is passionate about development of culture and mindset to support and engage team members, while reinforcing organizational transformation. His favorite quote comes from Bill Taylor, “Understand that in an era of hyper-competition and non-stop disruption, the only way to stand out from the crowd is to stand for something special.” In his off time, Paul enjoys traveling to Avellino, Italy, a region known for its fragrant gardens, wines and the roots of his family. If you’re lucky, you may have the opportunity to hear Paul tickling the ivories.
