Welcomes Sloan Bentley

September 2020

Sloan Bentley has been selected to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Lutheran Life Communities, effective September 14. Lutheran Life Communities is a system of senior living communities and services which began at Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and has a history of faithful service dating back to 1892. Lutheran Life Communities serve seniors and their families in Illinois, Indiana and Florida on five campuses.

“Welcoming Sloan Bentley to Lutheran Life Communities is a true blessing at this pivotal time in our organization’s history,” said Chairman of the Board of Directors, Michael K. Renetzky. “Her active leadership role in shaping the successful future of senior living will advance our capabilities and offerings within the communities we serve, and beyond. In selecting Sloan as our next President and Chief Executive Officer, the Board was particularly influenced by the very clear way in which she connects with our mission through her faith. Throughout Lutheran Life Communities, she will amplify our shared mission: empowering vibrant, grace-filled living across all generations.”

With a 30-plus year professional career dedicated to excellence in senior living, Sloan Bentley has been a consistent contributor toward reimagining the next generation of services within life plan communities. She cofounded Seniority, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of American Baptist Homes of the West, where for nearly twenty years she provided management, sales and marketing consultation to organizations nationwide. She has held positions of leadership within rapidly expanding systems of senior living, serving as CEO, COO and CRO of mission-driven national firms. A co-author of “Believing in Senior Living,” Sloan Bentley has, literally, written the book of insight and inspiration for senior living communities.

Since recently leading the transformative growth and services of Lifespace Communities, as Chief Executive Officer from 2014 to 2019, she founded Bentley and Associates in West Des Moines, Iowa. Bentley’s business focus has been organizational strategic planning, executive coaching and leadership development. Recent consulting has also included COVID-19 risk management, as well as a focus on internal and external communication.

Sloan Bentley is confident Lutheran Life Communities offers great strengths as well as great opportunities. Both of those affirm that this is the right organization in which to maximize her experiences and relationships in the field of senior living. She shares, “I am inspired by the rich legacy and mission-driven service I see throughout Lutheran Life Communities. Alongside the board of directors and associates throughout this system, we will advance the very best of residential and wellness solutions for the residents and families we serve.”
