Holy Week at St. Pauls House
April 11th, 2012
As a Christian-based organization, Lutheran Life Communities brings the celebration of Easter to each resident and family member who wishes to participate. St. Pauls House provided many opportunities for residents to celebrate the life of Christ, give thanks for His many sacrifices, and to learn more about Easter.
Holy week began on April 1, Palm Sunday, with a beautiful worship service. Services continued through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.
Pastor Matt Smucker, Director of Pastoral Services at St. Pauls House led Bible Study participants through Holy Week in the footsteps of Jesus by showing His journey on a map of Jerusalem. Then on Maundy Thursday, several residents attended the worship service, which included washing of the hands, touching of the hands and communion. Good Friday was a candle service in remembrance of the crucifixion.
Easter Sunday concluded Holy Week and was also the most meaningful day. “There was a wonderful church service in the morning and a delightful brunch afterwards, “ said Pastor Smucker. “Guests raved about how good the food and service was, and everyone had a great time. Easter Sunday was celebrated beautifully at St. Pauls House.”
