The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This year’s theme, “Bring Communities Together for Children–Children Bring Communities Together,” reminds us that children are an integral part of every community. The joy, fun, and youthful wisdom children bring make our lives brighter, and in turn, it is the community’s job to make sure they are cared for, safe and protected.

The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize children’s opportunities and to recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment—at home, at child care, at school, and in the community—that will promote their early learning and well-being.

During this week, Shepherd’s Flock student, faculty, and family are invited to share in the celebration throughout the week.

Monday, April 20 – Art Display Day! Every child will have artwork displayed either outside Shepherd’s Flock or down by the main entrance to the Lutheran Home.

Tuesday, April 21 – Intergenerational Day! Shepherd’s Flock will celebrate the Lutheran Home Community and have lunch in the Chapel with the residents.

Wednesday, April 22 – Beach Day! For a special theme day, Shepherd’s Flock children will enjoy fun activities about the beach.

Thursday, April 23 – Ice Cream Social Day! Shepherd’s Flock will host an Ice Cream Social from 4-5:30 p.m. Siblings are welcome.

Friday, April 24 – Grab and Go! Breakfast for the parents of Shepherd’s Flock students.
