Ottawa – In today’s competitive marketplace, older adult service providers must continually strive for quality and perfection that meets and exceed the expectations of their clients and clients’ families. To help gauge the level of satisfaction among their residents, and to determine which areas require improvement, Pleasant View, A Lutheran Life Community, participated in Life Services Network’s Confidence Survey Program. Organizations that conduct the survey are eligible to prominently display the “Seal of Confidence” certificate, which indicates the community’s continuous quality and commitment to improvement in care and services.

The surveys are questionnaires, administered anonymously, that rank resident and family satisfaction with the environment, staff, and management services. The feedback highlights positive programs and services, as well as helps to determine key priorities and opportunities for improvement and helps guide the organization to bring about results in terms of enhanced quality for residents and their families, as well as employees.

The Seal of Confidence Program was developed by Life Services Network of Illinois (LSN), a trade organization representing senior housing, home health care, assisted living and long term care providers. Committed to the advancement of quality and innovation in older adults, LSN is also the state affiliate of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) and the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA).

“The surveys have been a help in directing our quality assurance activities,” said Cindy Duncan, Administrator at Pleasant View. While the surveys are a great tool for assuring that future needs are met, they indicate which needs are currently being exceptionally met. The feedback for Pleasant View has been overwhelmingly positive.

On one survey, a resident wrote, “Pleasant View is the nearest thing you can get to home.” Another family wrote, “Most extraordinary caring, attentive, competent, and responsive place for loved ones. If I needed such a setting, I’d hope for a Pleasant View in my community. You certainly set my mind at ease about the well being of my loved one.”

A key question that sums up the resident survey is: “Would I recommend this community to others?” 94% of Pleasant View residents responded that they would recommend Pleasant View to others. 92.3% of our families responded that they are satisfied with Pleasant View, which is a 6% increase from last year.

According to Dennis Bozzi, president of Life Services Network, “Quality senior service providers work very hard to strive for perfection, and the Confidence Satisfaction survey program is an important tool for indicating resident and family satisfaction. “ Life Services Network encourages consumers to look for the Seal of Confidence when selecting a senior living community. People in the Ottawa area can look to Pleasant View, a Lutheran Life Community, for quality and a “Seal of Confidence.”
