For over a century’s time, 1892 to the year 2000, the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois built an excellent reputation for faithful care from one location.
In 2000, leaders from what would become Wittenberg Village in Crown Point, Indiana approached the Lutheran Home about sharing the success of person-centered care and innovative services in Northwest Indiana. With prayerful consideration, the board of directors from Lutheran Home & Services voted to acquire Wittenberg Lutheran Village and a system was born. From that day forward, Lutheran Life Communities has taken shape.
Being Lutheran is what lead the original call to this care ministry, as well as ours today.
Life is the great gift which, with age, presents countless blessings we discover and celebrate.
And it is in Communities that we grow – in family, church, neighborhood, workplace, school – in Lutheran Life Communities.
Lutheran Life Communities reaches out to the community-at-large with comprehensive services and programs that empower vibrant, grace-filled living across all generations, including rehabilitation services, home health, adult day care, relocation and moving services, hospice, pastoral services, volunteer programs, and even child care. BENEVOLENT CARE: Lutheran Life Communities is committed to providing charity care to persons who have healthcare needs and are uninsured, underinsured, ineligible for a government healthcare program, or otherwise unable to pay. Consistent with our mission to deliver compassionate, high quality, affordable healthcare services and to advocate for those who are poor and disenfranchised, Lutheran Life Communities strives to ensure that the financial capacity of people who need health care services does not prevent them from seeking or receiving care. Charity is not considered to be a substitute for personal responsibility. Customers are expected to cooperate with Lutheran Life Communities’ procedures for obtaining charity or other forms of payment or financial assistance, and to contribute to the cost of their care based on their individual ability to pay. More information on the Lutheran Life Communities Benevolent Care Policy can be obtained from each community’s Admissions Department.
